We’re starting things off today with a new Blu-ray review from our own Tim Salmons, this time featuring Fox’s new Kingsman: The Secret Service, which just arrived in stores last week. Turns out, it’s a pretty fun little film that’s well worth your time.

The Treksperts Speak: Celebrating “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” on its 35th Anniversary
“Star Trek: The Motion Picture provided a unique experience, leaving some audience members, myself included, elated at the prospect, “The Human Adventure Is Just Beginning.” — Robert Meyer Burnett
“I do feel very lucky to have been a kid while this amazing renaissance of fantasy filmmaking was going on.… Star Wars, then Close Encounters, then Superman, then Alien, then Star Trek: The Motion Picture… at least in terms of going to the movies, those are two-and-a-half years I wish I could experience again. It was a truly magical time.” — Mike Matessino [Read more here...]
The Other Woman & Awkward: S3, plus WHV/Amazon kerfuffle & Lady from Shanghai BD satisfaction
Here at The Bits today, Tim Salmons has turned in a review of Disney’s Frozen on Blu-ray. Do check that out.
Also, today happens to be the 15th anniversary of a little film called Free Enterprise, starring William Shatner, directed by our old friend Robert Meyer Burnett, and produced by Mark A. Altman (who also writes the occasional MOS DEF column here at The Bits). So our own Michael Coate has taken the opportunity to do a new interview with Rob and Mark for his latest History, Legacy & Showmanship column. You’ll find that here, so we hope you enjoy it! Still Loving Long & Partying: Remembering “Free Enterprise” on its 15th Anniversary
“Get a Life!” exclaimed William Shatner to a legion of Star Trek fans in a classic 1986 Saturday Night Live skit. Among those who did indeed get a life were Mark A. Altman and Robert Meyer Burnett. The pair succeeded in creating Free Enterprise, the affectionate 1999 comedy about a pair of pop culture geeks who meet their idol, William Shatner. Be careful about wanting to meet your heroes may have been the moral of the story as Mark (Eric McCormack) and Robert (Rafer Weigel) discover Mr. Shatner is not quite the person they think he is. True Lies, The X-Files, a bit more Twin Peaks & Pee-Wee's Playhouse
All right, we’ve got a couple more things for you today…
First, a few more of our retail sources have dropped us e-mails to essentially confirm the Australian Twin Peaks information from yesterday. The gist is that retailers have been hearing about potential April street dates for the Blu-ray set from Paramount down under (which distributes for CBS), but that the final release date is still very much subject to change. So the upshot is, the title is definitely coming, but continue to be patient. [Read on here...]

Oliver! & Trek: TNG – S5 reviews, plus Lauzirika’s Crave & CBS’s Twin Peaks BDs coming soon!
All right, we promised you some reviews and we’ve got a couple for you this morning. Plus there’s some very exciting release news. More on that in a minute.
First, I’ve turned in my thoughts on Twilight Time’s Oliver!, a nice Blu-ray upgrade of the classic musical. It sports a fine transfer, nearly all of the previous DVD extras and new content as well. Just 3,000 copies are available – see the review for details.
Also, I’ve finished a review of CBS’ forthcoming Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season Five on Blu-ray, which features 26 more episodes, all of the previous DVD extras (including the Best Buy bonus featurettes) and abundant new material too, including 4 audio commentaries, deleted scenes and a gag reel in HD and over 90 minutes of great new documentary content from our friends Roger Lay, Jr. and Robert Meyer Burnett. Don’t miss it. [Read on here…]
