The exact street date is still TBA. It will include both Dolby Vision and HDR10 high dynamic range, along with Dolby Atmos audio in both English and German. The Mediabook versions will follow in Spring 2024 due to “production reasons.” The disc will also include over an hour of special featurettes including an audio commentary, alternate takes, and multiple featurettes.
Turbine will also release Ti West’s Pearl on 4K Ultra HD Steelbook in December as well. Again, it will include both Dolby Vision and HDR10 high dynamic range, along with Dolby Atmos audio in both English and German, and the Mediabook version will be available in the spring.
Finally today, we have a few updates on other forthcoming titles...
First, Criterion has officially shifted the street date for their planned release of Terrence Malick’s Days of Heaven on 4K Ultra HD from 11/14 to 12/5.
Also, Universal has officially delayed their new Universal Classic Monsters: Limited Edition 4K Collection from today (10/3) to 2/14/24. There’s no reason given, but we assume it’s some kind of manufacturing delay.
And finally, Paramount has confirmed that there will indeed be a Blu-ray and DVD disc replacement program for Star Trek: Picard – The Final Season and Star Trek: Picard – The Complete Series. As many of you will know by now—as we reported here at The Bits back on 9/22—the final disc in the set includes the series finale, The Last Generation, with an earlier version of a shot of the Enterprise that was later enhanced. You’ll now be able to request a copy of that disc that will include the enhanced shot, if you wish. Simply use this contact form (click here) on the Paramount website. Choose “Other” for the issue type, fill in your mailing information and the set you have, and tell them which disc in the set you’d like replaced (it’s different depending on whether you have the DVD or Blu-ray version of the set). The fixed discs should be available in November, so they’ll likely be mailed than. And if you purchase Star Trek: The Picard Legacy Collection (which now streets on 11/7, instead of the originally planned 10/17), that set should have the correct discs.
We’ll leave you with a look at the cover art for Barbie on Blu-ray and 4K, as well as The Nun II in 4K (all are now available for pre-order on Amazon by clicking on the links below)...
Stay tuned!
