If you’ve been following my Queues this month, you know I’m not a big fan of how light this month’s been in terms of awesome titles. A few big’uns snuck through, but not enough. Well, this week’s no better, but at least it’s closing out. Welcome to the last entry of the month of April, 2014. Yee-haw. So without further noise, let’s get this ball down the hill. I’m not kidding kids, this month is really coming down as one of the more disappointing months for releases in a while. It was bound to happen – April tends to be a stinker. And I’m not super sure why. It’s not like nothing of interest comes out, but it’s just not been a huge month in my mind. There are a few titles of interest, so let’s look at those. [Read on here…]

This holy week is rather weak in terms of worthy-of-mentioning new releases. But, my lack of excitement for these titles isn’t going to stop me from letting you all know what’s coming out. Just don’t kill the messenger.

Black Nativity – Langston Hughes’ gospel-themed stage play gets a modern facelift in this musical film by Kasi Lemmons. Not too much praise for this, but it can’t be too bad considering the talent behind it: Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Tyrese Gibson, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Vondie Curtis-Hall  and Nas all lend a face and a voice.  [Read on here…]
